Dmitry Bashakin

Expert in Project Management, Teambuilding and Communications
The professional activity of Dmitry is closely connected to information technologies and projects on software development of various complexity. It all began in 1986 right after Dmitry’s admission to the university. Later, in 1992, he started his career in commercial software development.

Dmitry’s track record includes almost every engineering activity that exists in IT projects such as programmer, tester, analyst, and technical writer. This invaluable experience helps Dmitry to find common language with all specialists working in IT projects.

Before becoming a trainer Dmitry worked for twelve years as a project and project program manager and performed the following activities:
  • industrial control
  • business administration
  • people management

Dmitry has been working for Luxoft since 2001. Under his guidance, a great number of projects were completed for such companies as Lukoil, Boeing, ACD Systems, AirData, Coverity, Mobility Data Services, Systenomics, Visual Network Design, Elastic Path, Hotwire, Intuitive Group, OB10, Ritchie Bros., AREVA, and OILspace.

In his project activities, Dmitry used:
  • RUP and agile methodologies (SCRUM, XP)
  • technologies and programming languages such as J2EE, .NET / C#, C++
To solve management issues Dmitry actively used following tools: Cognos, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Jira, Wiki, SVN.

Dmitry started his teaching and training activities in 2001; since 2008 Dmitry is a Luxoft staff expert in project management, teambuilding and communications.

Dmitry has conducted hundreds of on-site and distance courses for Luxoft employees and outside customers in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. Dmitry has sound experience in development, adaptation and conducting trainings for managers of all levels such as project group managers, project managers, project program and portfolio managers, functional managers (heads of departments and divisions).

In his work Dmitry consistently adheres to the following principles:
    • Emphasis on applicability
    • Using all forms of material presentation and learning: lectures (required minimum), answering students’ questions, group discussions, exercises in small groups, business games (using the concept of problem-based learning), and individual students’ work.
    • Using computer-based business simulators (as a rule, SimulTrain).
    • Customizing training materials and delivery modes with regard to:
      • Client’s requirements and specifics (customizing theoretical material, examples, cases and exercises),
      • specifics of the audience (overall level of competence, knowledge of IT field),
      • students’ requests (within scope of Clients’ requirements).
    • Providing support to students after trainings (assistance in solving specific issues).
      In industrial sector, apart from project management and project programs management, Dmitry also has successful working experience as a system analyst of Luxoft production processes (estimation, recruitment, company integration and employees’ assessment, motivational patterns for various project roles).
